In 2018, MAP completed a merger with LUXE Travel Management (LTM) and is an LLC headquartered out of Irvine, California. LUXE is the largest independent travel travel company west of the Mississippi, and we are a proud to be partners in the travel business.
In The Beginning: 1984
"Jump" by Van Halen was topping the charts and Music Awareness Promotions was opening its doors.
In 1984, a former Memphis DJ named Jon Scott started a company called Music Awareness Promotions which provided radio stations and record companies with exciting promotional trips. Music Awareness Promotions began delivering unforgettable experiences from concert and meet and greets with Bruce Springsteen or U2 in Dublin, to trips to the world’s great sporting events. Twenty-nine years later, we are still delivering impactful travel experiences as MAP Marketing & Incentives has evolved into the nation’s premiere travel incentive and promotional agency.
In 1992, after 11 years at American Airlines years in incentive sales and entertainment marketing, Jim McGory became President of Music Awareness Promotions. Over the next few years the scope of the business expanded and the company’s name was changed to MAP Marketing & Incentives to reflect the ever-expanding capabilities. In 1997, MAP was one of 11 companies to be acquired by Aspen Marketing, who was ranked by Promo Magazine as the #2 marketing agency in the US. After 5 years as President of the travel incentive and events group, Jim reacquired the company in November 2002. Long-time clients include many Fortune 500 companies such as Turner Broadcasting, Comcast Spotlight, Time Warner, Charter Media, A&E Television, Oprah Winfrey/Harpo/OWN, DIRECTV, Coca-Cola, Kraft Foods, Southern Wine & Spirits, Moet Hennessey and more. Jim is active with the Incentive Research Foundation and is one of 12 incentive planners in the country appointed to Four Seasons Advisory Board.
Meet Our Team
Jim McGory, President
Jim has been President of MAP Meetings & Incentives since 1992, after 11 years in incentive sales and entertainment marketing with Air Cal and American Airlines. Jim grew up in a big family outside of Youngstown, Ohio and graduated from Kent State University with a BS in Telecommunications. He came to Los Angeles for a nine day vacation after graduating from Kent State in 1978 and never returned home to live, and likes to claim he is on the world’s longest vacation. Travel has always been a passion, and Jim worked for Air Cal and American Airlines in incentive sales and entertainment marketing for 11 years, before taking over MAP as president in 1992.
Jim lives in Manhattan Beach with his wife Karen, their two young daughters and their King Charles Cavalier dog named “Archie”. Jim is an incredibly passionate and mediocre golfer and guitar player and maintains his undying love for his original hometown sports teams including the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers and The Ohio State Buckeyes. In fact “Archie” was named after two time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin!
Lisa Yaremchuk, SENIOR Vice President
Hailing from the Jersey Shore Lisa is a Monmouth University graduate. “Lisa Y” started working for Music Awareness Promotions in 1991. Music Awareness Promotions (the precursor to “MAP”) was an up-and-coming boutique promotions agency that planned trips that included backstage meet and greets with the top bands in the world, sporting and concert events for radio station giveaways. This was the perfect fit after she had worked on an international promotion for MTV that her former employer, Kramer Guitars, co-produced in 1989 called The Moscow Music Peace Festival. After hosting a group of contest winners who flew in from Russia, she knew planning trips and hosting events was her calling.
Today, Lisa is Senior Vice President of Operations, and has been a minority partner since 2002. In travel management, the devil is in the details and Lisa is a perfectionist. She enjoys visiting and wine tasting in Santa Barbara with her sidekick and rescue pup Sebastian.
Louise GEORGESON, Director of Incentive Travel
Louise came to MAP Meetings & Incentives from Virgin America where she was a part of their In-Flight Team, spending most of her days at 30,000 feet. During her 4 years with the company, she also acted as a Brand Ambassador for many of Virgin’s advertising and marketing campaigns – from launching new destinations, rubbing shoulders with a certain Sir Richard Branson, to even starring on Fly Girls, a CW reality show created to showcase her unique lifestyle, Louise loved every minute of her adventure with Virgin. Keeping with her momentum, she transitioned into the world of leisure and corporate travel before finding a home at MAP, where her experiences worldwide have made her an integral part of MAP’s all-star team.
Her passion for travel and adventure has taken her to over 20 countries and 6 continents to date. (Antarctica coming soon...) Louise speaks Vietnamese fluently and enjoys the surf and sun of Santa Monica, CA, where she's proud to call "nha". (Home in Vietnamese).
Shari MOGREN, MARKETING Manager
Born and raised in the picturesque, river valley town of Stillwater, Minnesota, Shari has always had an appreciation for beautiful places and exploring the outdoors. Growing up she enjoyed numerous hiking, boating and camping trips with her friends and family. During college, her love for travel drew her outside the US borders and she spent a summer studying in Thailand and a semester in London. While in London, she particularly enjoyed planning and taking weekend trips throughout Europe. An art and marketing major, Shari has a passion for good design and branding, and was the perfect fit for MAP when she was brought on in January of 2013.
Shari enjoys scouring design blogs, packing a punch into her world famous (and top secret) Bloody Mary recipe and incorporating her other interests, such as practicing yoga and cooking spicy meals, into her travels.
LIZ WOLF, Director of travel services
Liz is a USC Graduate and Southern California native who has been in the travel industry for over four years. Prior to coming to MAP Meetings & Incentives, she worked at one of the area’s top luxury travel agencies, handling a mixture of corporate and high-end leisure travel. In early 2016 Liz joined the MAP team, and specializes in individual incentives. She is also a dedicated researcher, and loves adding to her product and destination knowledge. When not dreaming of new places to travel, Liz enjoys ballroom dancing, attempting to out-smart her cat, and being an armchair historian.
